Before I start this blog I am going to take a deep breathe and relax before I start saying inappropriate things.
Over the past week, my place of business has been booming with sick babies. I worked three straight 12 hour shifts over the weekend. Before I that I had worked two 12 hour shifts and had 2 days off in between. So finally today I had a day off of work, but I was "ON CALL". Now being "On call" means that my place of business may need my help. So I will be on Standby at home in case they need me to come in to help. Well apparently the people that I work with believe that if someone is "ON CALL" you should call them in even though you may not be busy but they feel that it would be nice to have an extra set of hands to help out, even though that is one of your days off and you just got through working three straight 12 hour shifts in a row.
So, if you cant tell by now I am a little upset at the fact that I got called into work. The thing that upsets me the most about the whole situation is the fact that they did not need me. I am more than willing to come into work to lend a helping hand, but I am definitely not okay with going into work to do someone elses work. That is just not right.
We have 7 patients and 4 nurses not including me. One nurse is perfectly capable of taking two patients. So, if you do the math that leaves three nurses with two patients each and one nurse with one patient. That should definitely be enough staffing to take care of all the patients on shift. So how come I got called into work? (which is technically my day off) I would totally understand someone calling me in to help out on what is "technically my day off", that is if they needed help. BUT THEY DID NOT NEED MY HELP. They just wanted me to come in to make the shift easier for the Head Nurse, so she could just sit on the computer and chill. I shouldn't say they, I should say "SONYA" who is the head nurse that was working tonight, who felt that it was appropriate to call me in because she felt like she needed me there.
So instead of them calling the shift "On Call" they should just call it "will you please come in and work for me while I sit on the computer and pretend like I am doing valuable work"!!!!
I just hope that the next time "SONYA" is one call, she gets called in for no apparent reason. Maybe then she will see how it feels!
I JUST DONT GET IT!! SHE DID NOT NEED ME TONIGHT!!!! WHY ME?
