Venice and Florence!!

Last weekend I went to Venice and Florence for the weekend to experience the Carnival Festival which was held in Italy. It is a celebration that is held in January and February of every year right before LENT. The event was fantastic. Italians were dressed up in costumes that looked really good. In the city of Venice they have several different areas where they perform different things based on the 6 senses. We were only able to get around to two senses which was the hearing sense and visual. In the hearing sense there was a little band of about 5 members who were dressed up and walked around the area performing music, it was pretty cool because they were very interactive with the audience. In the visual sense they performed a play that was in Italian of course. We were unable to understand what they were saying, but we were able to see with our eyes what they were doing and even then we were clueless as to what they were doing. It was very interesting. I was informed that the carnival is very similar to Mardi Gras in New Orleans but it is nothing like that at all. It seems like Italians take the celebration seriously. Where as in New Orleans it seems that they look at it as a time to get drunk, see naked women, and party until Daylight. The two celebrations are not that similar at all.

Unlike my trip to London the weather was great. It was SUNNY and cold, but it was still nice. Unlike cloudy and rainy which I experience everyday in GERMANY!

I don't know if I have ever told any of you this, but Italy has the best Gelato in the world. Gelato means Ice Cream in Italian. It is AMAZING. Once you go Gelato you will never go back. I would like to mention that Marble Slab is a far second to Italy's Gelato. If you ever go to Italy, Gelato is a must buy. I would also like to mention that we were also able to go to Florence and eat the best Gelato in Italy and perhaps the best Gelato in the world.

Now the trip to Florence wasn't as nice as the trip to Venice. The highlight of the whole trip was being able to eat the greatest Gelato in the world and also being able to see the original statue of Michelangelo's David. The statue was HUGE. It is amazing that a normal size person was able to create such a magnificent statue with such detail. Did I mention that it was amazing! I would like to tell you in words how great the statue is, but the only thing I can say is that this statue is a must see for yourself.

If you click the link below I have a photo album of the great things that I was able to see. So check it out and tell me what you think.

Watch out RAMBO!

RAMBO ain't got nothin on ME!

Today I went out to a German shooting range and shot some German guns. This is something not everyone is privileged of being able to go to. I was lucky enough to go because of the simple fact that I am a superb AIRMAN. Shooting the guns was a lot of fun; the waiting portion was awful. We were outside in the cold waiting to qualify with the guns. We spent more time waiting for our turn to shoot the gun than we actually did shooting the guns. It was a great experience for me, because I have only shot a gun once and that was at basic training. I was able to shoot a machine gun for the first time, that was COOL. I was also able to shoot a pistol for the first time which was also a great experience. We were also able to shoot a Rifle gun as well, which is very similar to our M-16 gun that the US military uses.

The amazing part about the whole thing was that I received a Gold medal which means that I qualified really high. I guess all of those hours I spent shooting guns on a video game were worth it.

I probably  could go into more detail about the whole event but all you civilians out there really wouldn't know what I was talking about. So just know that I shot some really cool guns today and it was a lot of fun. LOL!

MOVIE ALERT: 7 Pounds

I was working with a good friend of mine (Nosilla) and I asked her if she saw the movie 7 pounds. I was expecting her to say no but when she didn't even know what I was talking about I was stunned because I thought that everybody knew about this extraordinary movie. I mean it has Will Smith in it. How could you not know about it! So I decided to write this blog in case there are other individuals out there like Nosilla who are unaware of this GOOD movie. Here is the trailer to the movie; check it out!

I would like to talk about the movie but I dont want to give away to much and ruin the movie for you. So just watch the movie and trust me when I say that it is a good!

CHEERIO!

GUESS who's back, back again. Stefan's back, to write again. Guess who's back, Guess who's back! Sorry got a little carried away I have an old Eminem song stuck in my head.

Cheers to everyone who is reading my blog. I think I am going to start using some British phrases until it gets old, but until then CHEERS to all my READERS!

So as an early Valentines gift to my wife I took her to LONDON to see the Phantom of the OPERA. I'm not going to sit here and say that it was the best trip I have ever been on because ROME is the best, but it was a good experience. I think everyone should take a trip to LONDON. The people there are nice, it is just awesome. Out of all of the places I have traveled to I felt most comfortable in London than I did in any other city. Possibly because I speak the same language as the BRITS! It was weird because other people that were in LONDON and were not speaking ENGLISH I would look at them like they were a bunch of tourist when in reality I was a tourist as well.

The first day I got there I was a little ticked off because it was raining and there was lots of traffic. The weather I can't really complain about because that was expected, but the traffic was not expected at all, it was awful. Other than the traffic and the weather the city was amazing. I loved it there. I have put some pics on my blog to show you all the amazing sites we saw.

The food was pretty good. My wife and I ate an English breakfast and I must say it was pretty interesting eating beans for breakfast. The beans were pretty good but their pancakes were awful. I don't want to be the one to claim that the BRITS can't cook pancakes, but the one place that I did eat pancakes at was awful. For lunch we also tried some fish and chips. We went to a restaurant that claimed they had the best Fish and CHIPS in town. So I definitely made sure to go there and try their fish and chips. It was nothing to spectacular. My wife claimed that it tasted a lot like LONG JOHN SILVERS. I never really ate there so I can't really say if she is right or not. Overall the dish is really not that spectacular.

Now the whole reason for the trip was to see the PHANTOM of the OPERA. It was alright. Its not like I was at the edge of my seat or anything, but all the performances were great. My wife loved it and that is all that matters. Its really more of a play that women will appreciate more than men.

Right now the Pounds to Dollars exchange rate is really good so if you want to go and visit LONDON now is the best time.

In general the trip was GREAT. It was a very successful trip. Nothing went wrong, everything went exactly as planned. There were a couple of sites that we would have liked to see, but there was not enough time to see it all. The city is really too big to even see everything in a week. We do plan on taking another trip to LONDON before we leave to LANGLEY and I can't wait to go back because it is the closes thing I have to the states.

Headed to Virgina

So the decision is in......

We are going to be based at LANGLEY AFB in Virginia.

I hear the area is supposed to be nice, I guess we will find out when we get there.
